2021 where we stand

February 2021

Ok so when I set out to start this blog I was full of hope and optimism. Although we were in lockdown (the first one) we believed there would be light at the end of the tunnel and it would all eventually come to an end. This blog was meant to be all about us as a family reconnecting, getting out more and over all being more positive with life.

As you will have noticed there haven’t been many updates recently and that has been because 2021 has sucked! And not just a little bit. In the six weeks we have had of this year so far it has continued to increase in its suckiness exponentially and I have felt unable to write about it as although we are trying to be true, we also didn’t want to bring everyone down with our negativity in a world that already has so much. However after a week to top all weeks, here we are, 2021 the year of suck!

Home schooling hell

As anticipated just as the kids were due to go back to school after the Christmas break Mr Boris announces that although the schools are perfectly safe (yeah right!) they must all be closed, something at least I agreed with. OK, we can do this. Last time went really well. So the kids are desperate for a break from each other and the mere sight of one another has them flying into rages not seen since gladiatorial times but we’ve got this.

So a little while ago I blogged about how the last lockdown changed us for the better, how I loved the time off with my kids, how they really grew and changed for the better… ha so I’m pretty sure I was wearing rose coloured glasses or maybe it was the rose coloured wine because this time round so far has been complete hell.

Home schooling, that thing my child (the eldest one) has been shouting about and trying to convince me to return to since returning to school is now not what she was expecting because she isn’t getting to do the Momma based work she did last time. She is now having to do school set work at home, this is not OK, school work at home is just not on, (I don’t think I was the only one who remembers it all through rose coloured glasses) and is not part of the deal and “Seriously, why is all the french work only in french?” Yes this was an actual ‘conversation’ I had this week (when I say conversation, I mean this was just screamed at me whilst she stormed out of the room).
