As a family we are no strangers to anxiety. The children have a huge amount of anxiety which is in part related to their autism. Many people do not realise these go hand in hand, not all the time but for a lot of autistic people high anxiety is a reality. Us adults have all independently suffered with our mental health at one time or another and due to our life and its challenges, we regularly between us have dips in our mental health and suffer with anxiety.
Recently Riley has been struggling with his anxiety and I created him a worry worm, something he could if he wanted to, share his worries with (due to his autism he is unlikely too but I shared this sentiment with him nonetheless) and something that he could use as a fidget toy when his anxiety was high. This has worked well for him the last few days and the children have decided that the worry worm love needs to be shared.
They understand that many people suffer with anxiety and this would be a good way to help people to manage their worries and suggested we share them. So as a result of this Momma is making lots of worry worms and the children will be leaving them wherever we go for people to discover them.
If you find one we hope it brings you a little joy and peace.
You are also welcome to share your finds with us here or on our Instagram (@living_it_true) but by no means feel you have too.
